Description
The Mulberry Wing (Poanes massasoit) is a small, dark brown skipper butterfly with bright yellow-orange markings on the forewings and a distinctive rectangular patch on the hindwings, typically found in wet meadows, marshes, and grassy wetlands across eastern North America.
Range
Rare. Southern 2/3rds of the state in large tracts of wetlands.

Flight
Overwinters in chrysalis, and can emerge as early as March and can fly until October (depending on the weather)
