Description

The Juvenal’s Duskywing (Erynnis juvenalis) is a small, dark brown skipper butterfly with subtle pale markings on the forewings and two distinct spots near the leading edge, commonly found in oak woodlands, forest edges, and open areas across eastern North America during spring.

Eastern 2/3rd of the state

Similar Species

Larger size and larger markings on the wings separated this from all other duskywings except Horace’s which is a rare stray, usually in the summer months after Juvenal’s has stopped flying.
