Description

The Jutta Arctic (Oeneis jutta) is a medium-sized butterfly with brownish-gray wings, faint dark eyespots, and a mottled pattern that provides excellent camouflage, typically found in boreal forests, bogs, and tundra regions across northern North America and Eurasia. I have tried and failed to find this species in northeastern Minnesota, but was lucky enough to find a few in Colorado which are featured in the images above.
