Description
The Huron Sachem (Atalopedes huron) is a small, tawny-orange skipper butterfly with dark brown markings on its wings, commonly found in grassy habitats, meadows, and fields across parts of North America.
Range
Mainly the southern third of the state but can stray further north some years.

Host Plants
the main larval host plants: Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon), Saltgrass (Distichlis spicata), Sudangrass (Sorghum sudanense), St. Augustine Grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum), Crabgrass (Digitaria spp.)
Flight
Migrates to Minnesota each year, arriving in about June and staying until frost (usually October)
