Description

The Common Wood-Nymph (Cercyonis pegala) is a medium-sized butterfly with brown wings, a prominent eyespot on each forewing, and varying yellow or orange patches, commonly found in grasslands, meadows, and open woodlands across North America. The size and color of the eyespots vary quite a bit in Minnesota specimens.
