Description

The Checkered White (Pontia protodice) is a medium-sized butterfly with white wings patterned with dark gray or black checkered markings, particularly on the forewings, commonly found in open areas, fields, and gardens across North and Central America. I’ve only seen this species once in Minnesota, which is the third photo. The others are from Colorado.
